normaly i never do this and i don´t talk too much about myself. But this board is very good in my opinion and i think it is ok to introduce myself a lil.
As i said before i am from Hamburg/Germany and my american/englisch is limited. I am more a WW2 researcher and my special interest is on german tanks and units. Especialy i am researching the Tiger units and it is a photo research in first place. Id´s of Tiger´s in original photos and stuff like this.
But i am also a fan of this cavalry and indian stuff from my chieldhood on. The Little Bighorn battle came to my interest again when i saw the movie"Son of the morning star" what i think is a very good film. I had the feeling, without knowing it better, that it was made really near by the facts. I do like a little bit the Americans(in fact i have a lot of friends in america) and so i thought they may give me a chance to learn here something about the Custer scenarios.

Ulan,
Very interesting.
I have been interested in the WWI and WWII German armies since I was a kid. I am particularly interested in the WWII generals and the various units and I have put together small biographies of more than 1,000 German general officers. In addition, I have developed charts of all the army groups, all the armies, all the corps, and I believe all or most of the divisions and who commanded them.
I know it is all incomplete but my researching abilities have been limited and of course the LBH takes up much of my time.
I am particularly interested in the various "orders-of-battle" and who commanded the various division-sized and higher units. To me, fascinating stuff.
Best wishes, Fred.

Ulan: I too am very interested in the German Army of all periods but in particular the desert war. I picked up a copy of "Foxes of the Desert" when I was a, well much younger than I am now. I was hooked. My collecion now contains everything I can find on that period. Of course the thing that makes it so facinating is that it is "pure war", strategy, operations, and tactics without the distractors that made the conflict in Europe such a horror for all sides.

From the german side of view ww2 is also a very dark timeframe but the military stuff is very fascinating as it marked a new period of weapons, tactics, organisation etc.
If you go for a more or less serious research on that period there will come a time to make you decision what theme you go with. As you say Fred your are nailed with the LBH scenery it is the same with me on the Tiger tanks. Tiger units were mainly independent units and i only go deeper in the overall organisation question when necesary for further research. For eg if i work on a id of a Tiger in a new photo and have judging from his appearence(turret number, Build date, cammo style, unit modifications etc.) no idea what unit he belonged to, then i check the area where he was photographed(if it is known) and also under wich army group it was probably commanded at this time frame and so on.
I am too a fan of the Tunisia scenery. The Tigers in Tunisia are special for several reasons. All in all i like very much the detective work you have to go in if you want to find new results.
Five years ago i had started to run a website for Tiger research.

I'm an Order-of Battle person....But at regiment and lower level..The exact issues of equipment, changes at platoon and section level...fascinates me........

Steve: What period do you reenact? If American, or should you have need for American data, my library is quite full and open to you if you need anything.

ulan, Please forgive the delay in welcoming you. I have noticed your posts and am very pleased you have joined us. A friend from Greven and I teamed up to create www.American-Tribes.com. We have a great partnership even though we have never met, and it always amazes me how much more he knows about American Indians than I do. Our message boards have some of the best Indian scholars and authors, and I invite you to take a look if the Indian side of LBH holds any interest for you. Diane
