Lt James Bradley's writings on Ft Benton, Sioux history, Crow history, the massive smallpox epidemics of the 1830's, the fur trade, Audubon's first western visits, and reams of other fascinating stuff were published in the 1890's in Volumes II, III, VIII and IX of Contributions to the Historical Society Montana. All volumes are available, free in all formats at www.archive.org. I knew his original papers resided in the MHS archives, but until now I had no idea they were available on line. They're wonderful.

What a great source! I've used the Wayback Machine for years to find old web pages, but I didn't know the other tools were available.
