Mike Nunnally joined these boards in March 2005 as "Scout" and contributed to them for several years. Mike was an expert on so-called "Sole Survivors" and loved to debunk the phonies. His booklet, I Survived Custer's Last Stand!, is a must-have for anyone interested in that topic. He sent me the following note in 2005 along with the booklet:
Here's my little book which it seems like I've been working on forever. . . but it was fun! Anyway I already have more info which I will include in a future revised edition. Hope you like it.I do, Mike.
Mike's artwork has appeared on the covers of numerous Little Bighorn-related publications. When I was the editor of the Little Big Horn Associates newsletter, he always was gracious in providing artwork for the covers. His most recent book was American Indian Wars: A Chronology of Confrontations Between Native Peoples and Settlers and the United States Military, 1500s-1901 (2007, McFarland & Co.).
"I shall miss him greatly." ~ fred
"I did not know Michael Nunnally but I admired his work and enjoyed his many posts on these boards. It is a very sad loss and my heart goes out to his wife and family. Now he can resume his debates with Biggordie." ~ "Hunk" Papa
"What a wonderful, talented, and extremely knowledgeable guy about the Indian Wars. Mike shared his information without bias to those of us who are researchers and for that alone, he should be put on a pedestal. His superior research into and knowledge of the 'Survivors of the LBH' has kept most people from straying down bramble-filled paths. Plus, most importantly, he was a genuinely nice guy. Damned, what a nice guy!! My, and my family's condolences to Mike's family. He willl be remembered." ~ markland
"Those of us who knew Michael appreciated his research, forthrightness, and art." ~ Rod Thomas
