Does anyone know anything about a meeting in May of 1876 at Fort Lincoln between Custer and a Hunkpapa named Real Buffalo (also known as something like Heyokahmi)? Thanks for any help. Emily

I don't know about Real Buffalo, but Pretty Voice Eagle, described elsewhere as "a Yankton Sioux chief" claims to have spoken to Custer at Fort Abraham Lincoln just before he left for LBH. His story is here (begins near the bottom of the page): tinyurl.com/lguqeacefil

Thanks Cefil. It seems that Custer had a number of Lakota visitors before the LBH. Real Buffalo was killed shortly after his talk with Custer in a fight with soldiers near the Black Hills, so he did not live long to tell his tale. So, stilling looking...
