And frankly, having lived with the institutional memory of the LBH for years, it's not cruel to give some slack to the guys who over-reacted and started firing. They were probably terrified as well. terrified by what? the sight of unarmed poor indian families dressed in rugs out in the cold?

... A most horrible & ugly "affair" that would rival anything in modern history . . . pictures do not lie. Some of the photos remind me of photos taken at concentration camps after US troops "liberated" them. I wonder what Conz would say about the soldiers posing with Indian "souvenirs"? Horse, don't be ridiculous! Many worse things happened earlier in European & American history and while WK was bad, to compare it to the massacres of the Armenians, Jews, Cambodians, et al is absolutely ludicrous. I understand your empathy for the Indians and to some extent I share it; but, do you ever give any consideration to the Anglo or Hispanics murdered by Indians? Be good, Billy
