I certainly hope not. One of my best friends is a stripper.

Can I get an intro? Can I, huh? Huh? Only if your friend is a female, I mean. Huh? Huh?
In eager anticipation, I remain,
one of your other best friends,
Gordie
Can I?

I knew that was coming
I knew someone would want an intro to the stripper, but I would have placed my money on BS.

Diane - "...I knew someone would want an intro to the stripper, but I would have placed my money on BS..."
I didn't think I had to... well... actually... to ask.

This is one of the most interesting topics on this board and the discussion could go very deep to the reality of our dreams (skip the stripper part in jump to the 1st page). As it deals with why we are nostalgic of that period and how far would we go, either indian or cavalry lover. It just means that we have all become couch potatoes, NDNs included which is sad for them as their only argument for being such a "special" people is their 'special' bond to nature while we all know you are what you do : no NDN life = no NDN at all.
Personally, given the opportunity I would exchange in 1 second my 21th century bogus life for the real life of that sacred plains period, the short dream of a life that is almost as far away in time as it did exist.
give me a life with a couple of squaws in the yellowstone feeding on the buffalo herds out there, shared with the wolves, raid some tourists now and then (or crow if they want to join) and to hell my cellular phone and those time consuming billboards with trillions of useless byte! a horse, a tepee, fine dancing, good music, a quiver with fine weapons, the best dressing of people on earth ever, and for excitement raiding horses and counting coups, the best rock and roll life as god ment it for his children NOW WHO WOULD KEEP HIS DULL MICROSUPERSOFT LIFE FOR THAT
I disagree with all those cynics that such a life would be a tourist trap : worldwide people would be waitlisted to join in. I'm first!

the best of both worlds would be some fine sundancing to a pol for the men with a afterwards some relaxing pole dancing for the ladies:-)
ok I already found out that on this website we can debate the exact time of reno at tree X or brush Y whereas on indian tribes.com we can debate whether bad bull 3 is yes or no a nephew of yellowhand the good N°2, but as soon as it goes any deeper no one home :-( in the mean time so let's stay to the diversion of pole dancing you're right clair

I do get the sense at the NA site that they don't need people rocking the boat there over sensitive issues. It's too "nice" there, which is fine for geneology purposes.
If Diane or Detmar would ever like me to go stir up a hornets nest there I could do that, but in the meantime, let them be at peace. <g>

I do appreciate discussing with fierce opponents on the internet, almost like in the old days, do some raiding, get some scalps (yours for exemple! for the moment just counting coup :-)), when everybody agrees about everything what can you learn? (this does not mean i will learn horse manure in detail by the way). I think geneology is fine when it learns you something about history , for instance red cloud's geneology towards crazy horse's or spotted tail's, just to understand the scissions and complotting) but otherwise it is as boring as collecting stamps.
clair if we had a national park saved out there with also a little cavalry regiment out there that attacked now and then a peacefull indian camp I bet you would change your mind and join in

Yes...I agree with your sentiments on this. Maybe if my daughter's family was killed and scalped, she taken captive and raped and beaten before having her throat slit and I found her blonde scalp hanging on a lodge pole...yeah. Clair
