Welcome to the forum, temayo. There are a few re-enactors here, and there are special boards set up so that they can share their specialized interests. I'm sure that you will find them, and perhaps some links, as you navigate the boards.
Fell free, at any time, to throw in your two cents worth wherever you want, New voices are always welcomed.

PS Where in Oklahoma do you hail from?

Welcome also, Temayo. We've got plenty of horsemanship and uniform issues here so you can be a valuable contributor. Start with the cavalry training thread. Do you guys train your horses to dodge arrows? (just wondering)
By the way, what is an Okie doing in a (long spit) Texican cav unit?

ok, i think i may be figuring out how this works. (still not too sure) thanks for the replies. this okie belongs to a (even longer spit) texican cav unit (civil war) because my group of men are the only cav unit in okla, and that is the closest unit to associate with. but i have some questions about u.s. cav (since we do both) uniform regulations of the 1870's. anyone have any suggestions, let me know. thanks.

oh, and to answer the other question, no we don't have to train our horses to donge arrows, we outfit them with invisible kevlar.

oh, and to answer the other question, no we don't have to train our horses to dodge arrows, we outfit them with invisible kevlar. Congratulations temayo!! You've passed the initiation and hazing to get into this fraternity/sorority with flying colors by demonstrating the required sense of humor necessary to maintain your sanity while posting here on the subject of the LBH. With your initiation here, you shall be subjected to various comedy routines, some tongue in cheek ribbing, and some occasional lbh history and analysis. Besides we need a representative of the last Indian Territory. Land so bad the Americans didn't want it so they gave it to the NAs. Land so bad that the NAs didn't want it either and had to be forced to go there with death marches. We can always use the perspective of a re-enactor.

temayo:
There are probably any number of on-line sources for uniform regs of the 1870s. I have never tried to find any.
Good print references can be found in Boots and Saddles at the Little Big Horn by James Hutchins, and especially in Bugles, Banners and War Bonnets by E. Lisle Reedstrom [which will give you the poop on weapons, saddles etc, as well as shirts and pants and underwear].
