The Northern Cheyenne Reservation, which is located on and about the Rosebud, is currently in the grip of a terrible freeze. Many families are without heat, some without power, and numerous children, who are always in poverty, are even worse off now. If you can spare a donation of $25, via Paypal, please go to www.cheyennechildrenservices.comand follow the links. If you are better off than most, you might consider sponsoring a child. If you can spare anything, please help out. Even many of those with wood heaters have no wood to feed them. Virtually 100% of the money donated goes toward the welfare of the children. Thanks, Gordie

Their Paypal link is broke. I have an email in to them to see what the payee address is.
Unfortunately, it is not only the Cheyenne children who are freezing. The wife had a call from a mother of two pre-teens yesterday letting her know that the kids would not be in school because they did not have winter coats. I am now without a winter coat.

Welcome Billy. Always trying to help. I heard DC has a couple jackets he may be trying to get rid of himself.
Anyway, that must be a new site. Only one or two of the other links are working.
Does anyone know if '1st and Montana' is a street address. UPS doesn't deliver to PO BOX numbers.

Is that the Lame Deer address? If so, it is a street address that anyone making a delivery would recognize.
I had the same problem with the Paypal link. I was about to let my contact know about it, when she anticipated the problem and Emailed that she was going to fix the bumps. The site is being continually developed [or whatever the word is for websites]. Give it another shot tomorrow - otherwise snail mail will have to do, I suppose.
I appreciate whatever you guys can do. So will the people.

Cold like this is so dangerous on the reservations, especially to the children and elders. I drug my kerosene heater out of the shed and shipped it off to some friends. After that last blizzard they were days without heat. I can't even imagine.

I'm fruz and ain't going anywhere until after Xmas, unless the threatened revisiting snow "storm" don't materialize. When I can brave the slippery roads and streets, I'll cowboy up and make it to the PO and mail a donation. As clw says, the people, especially the children and the elders, need whatever help they can get.
Most of us have no idea, no idea whatsoever. I may be cold, and I am, but I ain't gonna get sick or die because of it, and some on the reservations will.

Florence sent me the new Paypal link; however, it only has two options, a monthly or yearly payment. Using Paypal you can send any amount to Florence's email address, ccservices@rangeweb.net and Paypal recognizes that as a valid receive address.

Thanks, Billy. I just used that address to send off a donation, thus saving me from the need of tippy-toeing along the frozen streets to get to the bus stop and hence to the Post Office. My cat is now also fruzzed. He went to meow and his mouth opened, but nothing came out. I'll have to wait until the temperature goes up or put his frozen meow in a fryijng pan to thaw out, so that I will know what he "said."
We have set cold records here daily for the past few days, and are expecting more snow tonight, tomorrow, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. You have likely saved me a broken pelvis, since my hips are now indestructible, being made of stainless steel, titanium and Teflon. I tried for Kevlar, but they haven't perfected that yet for implants.
Thanks to all who contributed however they could.
Gordie

Gordie, it is very likely that the cat said something to the effect of GET SOME BLESSED HEAT IN THIS JOINT! Now, I have to get one-third of my herd away from his new nest under the Christmas tree and prevent another one-third from using the light strands as floss. The other third is hiding, wishing all the pandemonium was over (I scared him today with some unkind language during my plumbing chores.) Billy

I have a Custer portrait done by G Running Wolf in 1986. I wonder if there is a relationship to Florence. I might ask sometime in the future.

I'm sorry, but I'm going to break my own rule against politics and rant. WHERE IS THE MONEY that has been appropriated to the tribes over the years? Why the hell didn't Daschle take care of his constituents when he was the friggin' majority leader? Former Senator Do-Nuthin' Daschle You've got to admit, horns on that head would be a natural fit. Now he's going to be the Secretary of Health and Human Services. God help us all. At least he won't be Secretary of the Interior and in charge of the Bureau of Indian Affairs.
