Yes about Armstrong who was the movie producer in KK. He also was in the KK sequel SON OF KONG (kind of a hokey movie, but not bad)

Johnson was under contract to Ford for only four more years AFTER Rio Grande; he was offered a part in The Sun Shines Bright but his agent turned it down, demanding more money. This, according to Harry Carey Jr was, allegedly, what pissed off Ford and he didn't use him again until Cheyenne Autumn. Interestingly, Ford persuaded him to take the part in The Last Picture Show; he was reluctant because of the nudity and swearing.
All this is in the best biography of Ford by Joseph McBride.

Ben Johnson also played good parts in 'Shane' and 'Will Penny' both fine western movies, but he was also in 'Bite The Bullet' with Gene Hackman and James Coburn, a particular favourite of mine. He was totally believable in whatever role he played and had that magic ingredient for any movie actor, a very strong screen presence.
