Sometime back I read that "Son of the morning star" was being remade. I also remember somebody suggesting Brad Pitt was slated to play Custer. Are there any updates as to wether or not this movie is being made?

Roger:
I think your reference, particularly to Brad Pitt, is to The Road To Valhalla, which was up for filming about ten years ago. So far as I know, that project was shelved. I think that there was some talk of Oliver Stone making a Custer-related movie. There are internet sites which cover those things, but I don't know any of them. If you check out the threads in Other Media, you'll likely find something relevant.

Gordie--
At the risk of repeating myself for the 2,000,000th time (but it does mean I can yack with you), I'll let our questioner know that the proposed SOMS movie is exactly that--proposed, but never produced. Stone got interested in other projects ... and that's just how it goes in Hollywierd. But some very happy script/treatment writer probably earned some nice money along the way!
Sorry haven't written ... still having issues from that #!@!# surgery. Painful ones. Yeeeooouuuccchh! Emilysashulyaette

Thanks for that info. I really do wish Mr. Stone would do this project, does anybody have his phone number?I do have to say though if the movie were made I would certainly be one of the first in line to see it. I just hope I wouldnt be as dissapointed as I was with the last Wounded Knee production ! Thanks again !

roger: If you go to page four of this board, you will find a thread entitled MOVIE RUMOR, which gives some additional information on the SOTMS movie planned by Oliver Stone, including where you might find production info.

I'm afraid I always expect to be disappointed by Custer movies--that way I may be pleasantly surprised someday. I keep hoping, anyhow.

I feel the same way, Melanie. I have yet to see a viable movie about GAC or even a reasonable version of the battle itself. There sure have been some doozies!
If you could see any actor play his part, who would it be? I can't even see any actors whom I could imagine as him! I suppose Brad Pitt would be as good as any, at least he has had some success and tries to give believable portrayals.

How about Christian Bale? He has the right kind of looks, and would do GAC's driven intensity very well. Not sure if he'd be quite such a natural for the lighter side -- the merry horseplay etc. -- but he's a terrific actor and I'm sure could do it.

Elisabeth, if the focus of the movie were strictly LBH, the intense look mixed with trepidation should work well in light of GAC's winter activities. Be good, Billy
