From a website visitor: The City of Westminster, Colorado, has a ranch site, buildings erected 1880-1910, that was homesteaded by Joseph H. Marion. The lore around here is that Mr. Marion was a "young scout" for Custer and was sent away to seek reinforcements for the LBH battle and thereby escaped his demise along with the rest of the 7th Cavalry. I have googled his name and searched your 7th Cavalry records, but I don't see any reference to him. Has anyone come across this name in your LBH research?

Thanks, Jim. The preservationist for the city where that ranch is located is trying to determine if the Custer "sole survivor" portion of the story has any truth to it. Does anyone have a source that backs up Joseph Marion's sole survivor claim?

Don't think he is mentioned in Michael Nunnally's I SURVIVED CUSTER'S LAST STAND but I will double-check through there.

Since I put my sole survivor booklet out I have recieved or found quite a few more SS's. Marion has joined my growing file folder. I would love to get my hands on Brininstool's list....he had personally interviewed over 70 of these guys. Godfrey also commented on the vast number of ss stories. The number has to be well into the hundreds of these guys. What is really interesting is the amount of notoriety some of theses guys got from the press and public back then. National Enquirer eat your heart out. ......' Wolfboy survives Battle of Little Bighorn!'
