Thanks Diane....I thought that William Dugard was young at twelve but this survivor was four years old! I think we have a winner here.

"Belknap Buck, known as “Baldy” or “Ballie” was born in 1872 and came to Canada as a young cowman..." The article goes on to say "I was compelled to look for information on Belknap Buck after I came across an article with a photo that showed old-time Circle Ranch cook “Mulligan” Jack Thomas with a prized jingler bell (it looks like a large cow bell) that he got from his friend Baldy Buck. It apparently was owned by Baldy’s father Belknap Buck Sr. who got it in 1876." While the writer could have been more clear, my take is that the paragraph that follows discussing the LBH tale refers to Capt. Buck, the father of the man born in 1872.

Quite possibly. But like a number of such articles they are rather muddled on so called "facts." I suppose it really makes no difference since old Baldy was nowhere near the LBH on that fateful June day.
