not the same man Bab
The famous Tall Bull was a southern cheyenne , a chief of the dog soldiers killed at summit spring in 1869
i saw a photo of him , but i'm not 100% sure of it , it's not in the grinnel book , in the photo he wears a sort of russian colbacco hat similar to that of little wolf has anybody seen this photo ?

I havenĀ“t seen a photograph of Chief Tall Bull, yet. I would be surprised if there is one. It must have been made - of course - before his death at Summit Springs. I think the only Dog Soldier chief who was photographed before that date was Bull Bear in 1864. Can you find and post the photo, Shatonska?
The photo above is of his nephew (Jacob Tall Bull?).

I've had a good look, but I cannot find a photo of Tall Bull. I agree with Dietmar that there probably isn't one.

Frank, welcome, and thanks for posting all those photos, I too have never seen a photograph of Tall Bull, there is however a drawing by Howling Wolf, of Tall Bull being killed by Pawnee scouts at the battle of Summet springs. I've seen it in a couple of publications, but the one I have to hand at the moment has a rather strange title which is, Allen memorial Art Musuem BUlletin, Oberlin Collage. As you have already found out, you have to always double check the names authors give to photograhs of various Indians. I've seen that photo we all now agree is of Three Bears labelled Little Big Man, and even well known faces are often mis-labeled by those that should know better, only yesterday I was looking through a book that had labelled a well known photo of Rain in the Face as being that of Crow King. I like too see a photo of the great TALL BULL, but i don't know if it exsist. In theory it would be possible, because Tall Bull signed the famous treaty of "Medicine Lodge" (1868) and some photographer can seen him. Instead, i'm sure that the famous painter Henry H. Cross painted him and also Roman Nose (i have this image) because he was friend to Cheyenne tribe and he travelled visiting many villages; but i haven't see this picture because the Cross Gallery isn't free-entrance. Can anyone post this picture, if it's possible? Thanks
