"There's no retelling of the heroics of Benteen and Reno"HA HA HA HA HA HA, good joke ! Here's a wonderful review of the movie, which appears not politically correct - excellent ! Even the Sioux got their hypocritical "Black Hills spirit" unmasked ! Wonderful ! custer.over-blog.com/categorie-10045477.html

I finally saw the movie a few days late. It had nothing to do with the book as I remember it, though it's been a long time since I read it. But, yeah, turn Hollywood loose with no controls and see what you get. We met a young guy at LBH this week who told us he had written a screenplay called "Last Stand," or something of the sort. He told us how much research he had done to insure historical accuracy. Great, we said, we look forward to seeing it. Then he added that for the sake of the narrative, he had to have Mitch Boyer and Bloody Knife trade places, since Custer and Bloody Knife were such close buds...

I think that comes under the heading, "What Are They Thinking?"
However, after reading the reviews posted by the Amazon customers, I don't doubt the release date is purposeful.
The first comment reminds me of a call we got at our local history museum. (I've probably told this before, but it still amazes me.) A woman announced that she had just discovered she has Indian blood and wanted to know if we sold moccasins.
I'm a quarter Transylvanian, so I guess I should wear a garlic necklace to protect me from vampires.

Diane, I had a Dentist that could never get me numb before working on my teeth. He told me it was because my jawline was similar to that of an American Indian, and it gave him promblems. My current Dentist laughs everytime I tell her the story.

I would be totally content if Hollywood never made another movie on the LBH or Wounded Knee. The History Channel is just as bad. gocav, I can never get numb either.
I understand the gift shop at Lincoln's grave site in Springfield, ILL. sells toy derringers. They walk among us....

We just harvested over 10 lbs of garlic and they are drying in our screened-in porch.
No bats, let alone vampires . . . of course the neighbors are staying away too!
