"Movie on 5th New York Will Recall Pohanka's Legacy"
I received my copy of the Civil War News today and the front page has an excellent feature story with color photos concerning a film called "Red Legged Devils" , Cricket Bauer Pohanka, executive producer. The movie is based on Brian's book on the 5th New York Zouaves. In the beginning, the first idea was to make a cocumentary, then a docu-drama, and finally a full-length feature film. According to the article, it is hoped that the film will be sold to a cable channel early next year.
"Bauer-Pohanka and Charlie Spickler formed a production company, C Squared Pictures, and hired a cast of 20 professional actors as their core group."
In the spirit of authenticity, the film will recall Pohanka's Legacy. Brian had written 20 pages of dialog himself before his illness and he also was very involved in the making of 20 Zouave uniforms for the actors to be used in the movie.
One thing for sure, I think we all know and appreciate Brian Pohanka and his supporting wife and can rest assure, this movie will tell the accurate story of the 5th New York down to the buttons on the uniforms!
I for one, look forward to seeing it!
