Guys, I stumbled upon an uplifting document tonight; the testimony of Gen. Sherman in front of the House during the "reduce the Army's size debate." This is Sherman's testimony in front of the House Army Sub-Committee during 1874, and during the testimony, Sherman was at his best. I will try to get that transcribed as soon as possible. One thing that the snippets I read emphasized, that Sherman was a very interesting man. Also, I copied Townsend, the QM Gen'l, Benet (sorry RCH, no indications of enlisted men,) and one or two others.
Also, for those on the old Ft. Bowie thread, I found Beadle's original journal of his 1857 trip from San Antonio to the Colorado river west of Albuequerque <sp>. He really liked those camels!
