First, dead soldiers must be respected and I am horrifying at you, CSS as I am when people throw xxxx on Custer! Should burn in Hell? I guess you have to take another breath and think about what you said. You have no definitive evidences about what you're saying but you're ready to burn in hell a soldier. Another time you're not at the level Custer would be. Let the Hell to devils. You know, God will not forget a single word you state.

Tell that to Custer's 210 men who waited for support which never came and later saw some of their fellow comrades lying in Court to cover the traitors

There is nothing pretty or neat about war. War is not ideal. Until a man has faced the stress and hardships of a soldier on the battlefield, he has no right to judge, in fact no man has the right to Judge, that is to be done by the Almighty.
There are no perfect soldiers, and any man or woman who will step forward and serve faithfully and endures the inconvenience and hardships of military life deserves the respect of all of those who enjoy freedom. I think this same respect should be given to the Native Americans who served their people. Both sides were essentially American Soldiers.
These people derserve our honor, especially those who fell in battle.

great pictures but Wallace lied at the RCOI to cover Reno Should be burnt to hell instead of being honored I beg to respectfully differ, sir. Please see Custer's Southern Officer, the 188 pages biography of Captain Wallace that I authored and published in 2002. I devoted an entire chapter to the Reno COI. Wallace had an impeccable service record and served honorably until his untimely 1890 death. I approached this questions with an open mind and examined his life in detail, everything pointed towards his being a man of honor, right down to answers he gave ten years later at a different Court of Inquiry (Jefferson Barracks) that weren't necessarily favorable to him. After I published his biography, I purchased an 1876 newspaper off ebay that contained a portion of a letter to his father than I had cited. Significantly though, it contained more of this private letter to his dad in early July 1876 than his home county newspaper did. He stated that "Congress and the country can not do too much for Major Reno and his brave little band." This was written to his Congressman father. Note that he isn't damning Reno in private, so why should one expect him to so do in 1879? Furthermore, Godfrey, who despised Reno, continued to affirm Wallace to near the end of his life, even joining the Philadelphia Indian Wars veterans camp named in Wallace's memory in the early 1930s, just before Godfrey passed away. This was just a few years after he successfully blocked the inclusion of Reno's name on the monument that went up on Reno Hill. I can't see him joining Wallace's camp if Wallace had been dishonorable or had out and out lied to protect Reno. Yes, there are things that don't "add up" about what he and others said, but history is rarely wrapped up in a neat, tidy package with all the t's cross and i's dotted and thus all our questions answered. If it was, this wouldn't be the fascinating journey that it is as we visit the battlefield, read and share impressions.

Tim,
Thanks for posting this and all the other great photographs you are sharing with us. I am out of town this coming week but I have got to call you when I get back so we can see each other, since we both live here in the Palmetto State.

Give me a call and we'll try to do lunch or something. The wife has a few things on her list for me to do, Right now looks like it will be about 2nd week of May before I can get a day off during the week.

Tim, mid-May is a great time for me to get in touch with you, making note on calendar to call you then.

John, you and Tim are now officially my favorite Sandlappers, falling right behind Maurice of the BBQ sauce fame! First things first you know And you are correct, I am thoroughly enjoying this thread. As usual, Diane had a brilliant idea. We must talk Chuck into taking her to the DQ as a reward. The only negative to this thread is it is revealing my many inadequacies as a photographer! Best of wishes, Billy

Thanks for the compliment, Billy, but I believe this board was your brilliant idea.
Come to think of it, I think Melani suggested it a couple of months ago because someone asked her how to post photos. Now I have to remember who mentioned to her that we needed a place to display photos . . . .
This is getting much too complicated. A brain is a terrible thing to waste!
