Jim--
If you're from an area close to that (ugh) border, you probably won't like my war chant:
CUB FAN, BUD MAN[/b]!!
Just think, this is the one hundredth anniversary! "Just outside Chicago, there's a place called Illinois ..." Is there, really?

Hi, Happy St.Patrick's Day all. I'm Joe Scallan, here in Dublin, Ireland. While looking up the famous philosopher John Dewey for a university project, I noticed that he was born in 1859 and died in 1952. Since I was born in early 1952, I thought it remarkable that a man who was alive at the same time as me could have served at the Little Big Horn with Custer. This led me to look up details of the battle, (I noticed that a lot of his men were Irish), which led me to Custer's book "Life on the Plains". This gave me a totally different picture from the stereotype we have been fed by Hollywood. Further browsing led me to your site which I find most informative. I look forward to taking part in future discussions. Best wishes, Joe Scallan

Hi, I love the message boards and hope I'm not overstaying my welcome. My real name is Susan and I'm a 50 year old semi-professional artist and O'Harra family historian, of sorts. I got interested because Miles O'Harra is a relative. When I was a little girl I was shown some pictures of some guys in our family who died with Custer. Now, I'm trying to piece together their story before it's forgotten. My interest is mostly about those who died and why and how we honor them. My family thinks I'm crazy but they have agreed to go to the battlesite with me next year!

The secret is to get your family members involved so that they become crazy about this stuff, too. If you want to publish your information about O'Harra, please consider the LBHA Newsletter! Diane

Hello All, I'm one of the Realbird reenactors at the battle and portray 1st Sgt Michael Kenney of Company F, The Band Box Troop. So far I seem to be the only Montanan on the site. I live in Butte about 5 hours west of the battlefield. Just wanted to say hi and hope to see all of you at the reenactment in June. Garryowen 1st Sgt Kenney

You would be a 3rd Montanan I know if we ever were to meet. I forget which one of the Realbirds it was, but one of them gave us palefaces a bit of a show my first time at the battlefield. We were on their property at MTC (with permission, due to our esteemed guide), and the Realbird in question came galloping up on a horse. We were on foot, and it was quite a sight. He came up rather quickly and stopped very close. After realizing we weren't trespassers, he gave us another show by galloping across the Medicine Tail Ford.

This is going to be a vacation of a LIFETIME! We live 20 miles from Yosemite (am a park volunteer Ranger), and our taking our "Battleship" as my bride calls it this Summer to: Zion Bryce Kodachrome Basin Yellowstone Grand Teton .... and a "Kampground" ( no names given but a hint) in Hardin, MT, in time for the reenactment.
If we go any further East, will end up in New Yawk!.
I am Jaybird, Wife is Christine, and the 12 year old boys are David and Carl.
We are planning to meet and greet at the Little Man Pizza with all of you.
Now for a question:
Already have tickets to reenactment: Friday Saturday Sunday
ANY DAY better than the other?
BEST vantage point on day you pick to see all there is?

Hi Jaybird!
The one deciding factor about the best reenactment day will be the weather. Last year, it was sunny and gorgeous on Friday and Saturday but rained on Sunday. They will still have the show even if it rains, but it may not be the most comfortable time for your family.
I think I told you that we'll be at Little Big Man Pizza on Wednesday night. Now it looks like it will be 6:00 Friday night.
