There is currently a temporary exhibit of the collection of Marty Stuart. Along with many costumes worn by C&W stars, Marty has many Lakota items as well as a photo he took of GAC's marker on LSH called "Custer."

Ah yes, Marty Stuart...he's been arrested so many times for DUI in Nashville that there's a running joke that the jail has a Marty Stuart Suite.
He wrote a song about Custer which he introduced by saying, " here's a song about when Custer got what was coming to him" Old Marty has "got what was coming to him" more than once.

I had no clue who the guy was, but one of the museum workers assured me that he's a big star!

Diane, I saw a special a few years ago with Stuart giving a concert somewhere, maybe around Wounded Knee? I know it was maybe a benefit for the local tribes, wherever it was. That's all I know.

Yes, it was at Pine Ridge. If I recall correctly, Johnny Cash first took him out there for a benefit concert. Stuart was a guitarist in Cash's band at the time. That started his interest in the Sioux.
