As my parents live north of Bismarck in Minot, I have traveled through and stopped at Fort Lincoln many times. If you go, be sure to take in the horseback trail rides. They follow Custer's trail out of Lincoln. They are also ridiculously cheap -- something like $12.00 for an hour ride.

"Haunted Places in North Dakota" Here are two Custer-related entries for Mandan: Ft. Lincoln National Park - Custer House - [Libbie] Custer haunts the recently rebuilt Custer House were she and Gen. George Custer lived before the Little Big Horn.
Custer House boardwalk - The spirit of the wives of the soldiers who were killed in the battle of the Little Big Horn remain here. On occasion a terrible moaning and wailing cry comes from a spot on the boardwalk just to the south side of the Custer mansion. It is followed by a rushing wind-like energy that shoots upward from the ground. Lights appear at night in the downstairs and upstairs windows.
