I've just read an article about Emmanuel [sic] Custer that ended by saying: Emmanuel's story ends here but Maryland still carries a part of his life's story in a Timonium Restaurant, near Baltimore. At Shane's on the York Road, there is a Custer Room panelled in the barnwood from the homestead of General George Armstrong Custer's parents, Emmanuel and Maria. The article by Eva Shillingburg is 25 years old, and the address of the restaurant was 1924 York Road. I pulled up a satellite view, and it showed a parking at that address. Does anyone know what happened to Shane's and/or the barnwood in the Custer Room?

My God! I was born in Baltimore and I'm very familiar with the area of York Road. I don't recall a "Shane's" but, I'll do some research and see what I can come up with.

Don't bother, Joe. I'll be seeing Eva in July.

On my first visit I was informed the fireplace in the dining room had once been Custer's.

The Timonium track is the only one in MD where I ever came out as an overall winner, but never been to Shane's
