This 130th anniversary commemoration next June promises to be an exceptional time for the gathering of those interested in the events of 1876. Please use this board for the exchange of information about events at or around the battlefield during the weekend which includes June 25, 2006.

I've had several people write that they are making their plans to be around Hardin during the June 25th weekend. Where should we all meet? I'm partial to Little Big Man Pizza only because it was the first place I met the CBHMA gang so many moons ago.
Suggestions?

Diane, the Little Big Man Pizza is a great place to meet in Hardin. I used to meet every night with friends I met while taking a tour through Backtrack West in 1999, so it has sentimental meaning to me also. Another place you might consider is Thompson's trading post right across from the park entrance. Where better to meet after a day in the field than a place that overlooks the field? I'd also be curious to know who all might be attending in June?

Let's get a roll call going! Chuck and I will be there from Thursday through the weekend.
I agree that Thompson's would be a good meeting place, but it always seems jammed with tourists (as if I'm not one! ;D). It's probably going to be hard to round everyone up at one spot.

El crab, I don't intend to be there for the 130th unless the Bozeman Trail/FPK Association has their "Days" to coincide with the LBH's. And if I go, yeah, I'll be driving it but probably in my car. You get to Billings and I'll have wheels to drive you around. Oh, but no Custaches allowed.

CBHMA does not have an activity planned for Friday night, June 23rd. The symposium is scheduled to end at 3:00. How about meeting at Little Big Man Pizza at 7:00 that evening? That will give everyone time for a nap or a visit to the book sellers or whatever!

There should be enough vehicles running around to provide transportation for you and your horse. If you are staying in Hardin, you can probably find someone staying at your motel who will help you get around. All -- I will be at Little Big Man Pizza at 6:00 Friday night. My post above says 7:00, but let's start at 6:00 in case there are other events that night that people would like to attend. Leyton and I are going to sit together on the Saturday CBHMA bus trip. If anyone else is flying solo, you are welcome to join us. DM

I changed the time on another thread and neglected to do it here -- sorry! We'll meet at 6:00 Friday at Little Big Man Pizza, not 7:00. In fact, I'll probably just stay for a couple of minutes because I want to attend an event sponsored by the Friends of the Little Bighorn Battlefield, and that starts at 6:30. The rest of you can party all night! I hope you recover quickly from your death!

Hello everyone. I am new to this board, but a long time student of G.A. Custer. I too am a graduate of the U.S. Military Academy and have had an opportunity to study his exploits as a cadet.
Anyhow, I am making my first visit to the Battlefield this Friday. I have booked a room at a motel in Billings where I am flying into. I understand that the Battlefield is about an hour away. Can anyone let me know if there are any events planned for Friday night? I see a post about a gathering at a pizza place - is that for anyone to attend? Is there a schedule of events for Saturday & Sunday?

USMA--
I'll be getting into Billings Friday night, and will be staying there, as Hardin's hotel rooms were already booked in January! But there are going to be activities sponsored by the CBHMA (www.cbhma.org) as well as the Friends of the Little Bighorn (www.friendslittlebighorn.org) throughout the weekend. And of course, there are the re-enactments at the Realbirds' property just off MTC.
Have fun in Montana and welcome to the board! It'll be a bit quiet here until we all return from the anniversary celebrations ...
