This doesn't really fit the "Media" category, but I thought you all might like to know it's available. Chuck has one he purchased many years ago, and it is a funny shirt! Michael Ives Studios introduces the new website www.cafepress.com/ivesart and already it's raising a stir with its creative line of designs: 'Custer's Last What!?' First and foremost is its 'Custer’s Last T-shirt', one in a series of products the likes of which make most everyone laugh. Arrows puncture everything from T-shirts to coffee mugs, mouse-pads to barbecue aprons -- even 'Custer’s Last Spaghetti Tank Top.'

The cafe at the Cheyenne & Arapaho Tribal Administration Center at Concho, OK, is called 'Custer's Last Stand Cafe'. They produce T shirts with their logo.

That photo has to be one of the all-time greats! Armed warriors in a "hostile" situation and the photographer lived to have it developed and shown for posterity.
The photos taken during Geronimo's last "outbreak" are some of the best. There are several others that show Apaches and Whites negotiating surrender.

On November 27, 1868, on the Washita River in the Antelope Hills of Indian territory, Custer defeated a group of Chennne, Arapahoe, and Kiowa, though it was later found this group was largely non-combatants.
Very nice website, Frank, but this statement is completely wrong. Cheyennes casulaties at the Washita were combattants and civilian casulaties were low - and it was never found that Indians were innocent civilians.
The only dead civilians that Custer found was Clara Blinn and her son who were tortured by Black Kettle's buddies.

About 12 or 14 warriors were killed at the Washita. The figures vary, but most non-military estimates were around these figures. There is evidence that some casualties were counted more than once. Hence the much higher figure of 103 given by Custer.
Custer reported that some women and a few children were killed. Ben Clark (Custer's scout who was married to a Cheyenne woman) estimated a total of 75 women and children casualties. Other non-military estimates for women and children killed vary from about 20 to about 40. Most non-military sources agree that more women and children than warriors were killed.
A good summary of these figures is contained in Hardorff's 'Washita Memories'.
There is no evidence that Clara and Willie Blinn were 'tortured by Black Kettle's buddies'. There is evidence that both were killed by cavalry fire. Indeed, the army went to great pains to deny this at the time, but the military accounts of their deaths are contradictory.

Please gimme some link or something before the "figures of Washita" or etc... plus ofcourse then the source of the information so I can add that too to my website and I dont have to answer to endless email when people ask me that how can I say that "only 2 guys were wounded at washita and one hurted his finger..." or something like that thanks dudes! ;D |
