Great Pics El Crab, and I can tell right away they are not of Scotland ;)A Blue sky like that never Could if possible for us who have not have the privilige of being there, you could point out to us and reveal what we are seeing. One thing i do notice is the amount of ravines which could contain anything and not visible from the naked eye.The last day we had a sky similiar to that the police recorded 457 phone calls saying there was a UFO in the sky,A golden orb kind of thing. ;D

Awright Crab!! What do I have to do to get copies of these 'scapes? How much? Seriously. Are you willing? Fred. Well, I've been meaning to copy them onto a disc and send them off to the group I went with. But I keep putting it off. When I do, I will be making thumbnails and an HTML page to go with 'em, to explain some of the images and what you're looking at. One thing stopping me is the images themselves. I didn't realize the camera was on a weird setting, and the pictures are a bit blue hued. I am pretty sure my friend can work wonders on them using Photoshop to bring out more color, but I haven't asked him yet. When I get around to that (and I think I might finally do it soon), I'll either put it online or send out CDs to people (or both). When I do, I'll offer you guys the images. I'll keep ya posted.

There's a book titled, 'Custer Country', by Ralph E. Scudder, which contains aerial photographs of the LBH battlefield and the surrounding country.
The aerial photographs begin at the Yellowstone River and reveal each day's march via a dotted line through the landscape, including the Crow's Nest, where the divide was crossed, where Benteen split off, Reno's charge & retreat, Custer's advance, and the battle ridge complete with grave markers. The photographs are not in color however they do provide one with a fairly decent general overview of the terrain the 7th traveled on June 22-25, 1876.

Even then, though, my concepts of movement and terrain were not clear. When I saw the terrain from Busby (June 24) all the way to the battlefield, it became very clear...

El Crab, those pictures are beautiful. Thanks so much. I am only used to seeing black-and -white; color gives a much better feel for the whole thing. What time of year were the pictures taken?

While surfing around I came across this site for your perusal of books, some of which you might never have heard of: lakotacards.tripod.com/

That's HistoryNut1876's list (I believe he mentions it earlier in this thread), and it is an impressive one.
I highly recommend ordering a set of his "Lakota Cards" from that website. They are beautiful!

Because I just found this great site recently, I find I am not getting much else done, so much reading here. I have read this thread with interest, looking to see just what I should add to my "want list" for any books I haven't read. And I run across the pictures presented here by El Crab. All I can say is "WOW". and WOW. There are no other words. Thanks.
