A new book is out from the University of OK Press by Michael Tate. You can read a review of “Indians and Emigrants: Encounters on the Overland Trails” at the Friends of the Little Bighorn Battlefield website -- www.friendslittlebighorn.com/Books-on-the-horizon.htm -- I expect the usual diatribes from West and CSS, which I will not waste time with a response. For those truly interested in learning all sides of history, better understanding of correct processes for research and analysis, and unbiased history of the American West, I believe you will be interested in this book.

Another excellent book is by Francis Parkman: The Oregan Trail.
Parkman went West and visited with Native Americans before their culture was destroyed. He had many encounters that proved to him that Indians were the equal to Whites . . . and lamented the end of the American Indian as they were known.
And even more surprising . . . the Indians didn't scalp him, torture him, bash him against trees, burn him alive, chop him up or anything that some believe all Indians did to Whites
Go figure . . .

Yes, and most importantly John Unruh's "Plains Across."

Bob, if it is as good as his The Frontier Army in the Settlement of the West book, I will have to pick it up.
Be good,
Billy

Billy: I’d say it is. But, all one needs to do is look at this historian’s impeccable research and have no doubt.
