Ive read this book by J. Michener, and wow. Its characters and most of the events are fictional, but no doubt they were inspired by truth. Cultural Mosaic at its finest. Great reading.

You can't go wrong with a Michener novel! I read it back in the 70's when the mini-series came out. I'm waiting for it to come out on DVD.

Yeah, Centennial is one of my favorite books, and the miniseries IS my favorite miniseries. I also loved his book "Texas." I learned more about my home state reading Texas than from the Texas History classes I took in high school. While doing some internet surfing one night--you know how one site leads to another and another ad naseum?--I found an excellent site where pointing out the actual landmarks that were important in Centennial and are located in northeastern Colorado in the Pawnee National Grasslands, such as the limestone bluffs where Gregory Harrison's wife was killed by the snake and the lineshack was located, etc. I, too, am counting the days until the DVD comes out. Counting them, although I haven't heard anything definitive about when that will be.

Folks, my curiosity got up and I did a search for Centennial and came up with the below link. I don't know if this is an illegal copy this guy and others are selling or where it came from. He's selling them for $40 + $7 S&H. There's another guy selling it for $33. Like I said, I don't in any way vouch for this offer or anything, but am just passing to y'all what I found. www.ioffer.com/i/CENTENNIAL-COMPLETE-12-PART-TV-MINI-SERIES-DVD-7107205
