shatonska--
I do not necessarily agree w/ you here. There is no testimony anywhere about any Indians being in the Tullock's Creek valley. Plus, Terry sent LT Bradley up the valley & other scouts went up as well. Now, they did NOT go the whole length (I think some 20+ miles is what I remember; I will check), but they did not find a single sign of any Indians.
I DO agree, the way things happened, sending someone down Tullock's Creek would have had no bearing on the battle, BUT... that was just another example of what went wrong & what should have been done.
Nice to hear from you, shatonska.
Best wishes, Fred.

hi fred
Nice to hear from you again
which day did LT Bradley & other scouts went up the valley of tulley creek , and how far ? days before the village was miles south but on the 24-25 they were there , hunters went surely in tullock creek valley , anyway this is only a consideration on the possibiòities of the couriier , nothing to spare with the decision of sending or not the courier

shatonska--
You could very well be correct. It is just that there has never been anything-- that I have read-- that said the Indians had been hunting that far east. Also remember, when they moved to the area where they were on the 25th, they had moved there the day before because of reports from their scouts that there were large herds of game down the LBH valley near its confluence w/ the Big Horn. I would think that was where most of the hunters were on the 25th.
Terry ordered a group of Crow scouts to move up Tullock's Creek. This occurred around 10:30 a.m. on the 24th. By 8 p.m. or so, they reported back. LT Bradley was utterly disgusted (he must have had his fill of Crow scouts, I would think!) because they had only managed to go 10 miles up in more than 8 hours. Terry then ordered Bradley to heaqd up Tullock's the following morning, the 25th, obviously too late, but Terry was extremely upset because he thought he would have met Herendeen some time on the 24th. Maybe that was unrealistic, I don't know. Anyway, Bradley himself was only ordered to move 9 miles up the creek and then wait.
Best wishes, Fred.

The entire Terry/Tullock mess is covered very well in Darling's Sad And Terrible Blunder.
