This title may be too new for anyone to have read yet (published 2007, but not sure what month). But if anyone does know the book or anything about the author I'd be interested to hear from them. The details are: Title: The Black Hills and the Indians - "A Haven of our Hopes"Author: Martin Luschei Published by: Niobrara Press, San Louis Obispo, 2007. The Contents include the following: Beginnings, Contact, The New Eldorado, The Rush to Gold and Grass, War, Preservation or Plunder?, Monumental Dissonance, Threats and Promises. Book includes much early history on the Black Hills -- Custer in 1874, Newton - Jenny Party, Gordon Party, Col Dodge, Mt. Rushmore, Borglum, Crazy Horse, Crazy Horse Monument, American Indian Movement, The Treaty of 1868 and the problems it created for the Sioux right up to today. ciao, GAC

GAC A review has been posted in the Book Review section [of all places!!] Gordie, my boss at the arrow factory said I didn't get the point, and gave me the shaft...................... Doh! - Thanks for pointing that out, Gordie. And how coincidental is that - Brad's review only went up yesterday after I'd last perused the book reviews, and I only came across the first mention of this book browsing ebay today! Obviously a book whose time has come. ;D And I like what Brad says about this book - particularly it's breadth of scope in which the events of the 1870's are but part of a long and continuing story. ciao, GAC
