Grahamew, without being able to see the drawings close up it is difficult, but having seen drawings of His Crazy Horse in other Indian ledger books, I believe that some of the drawings on the site you have listed are of the Hunkpatila warrior. I think that "Drives Off Three Ponies & a Mule", "Steals two Pony from Crow camp" and "Steals Two Crow Ponies" are depictions of our subject but the following are not for the reasons stated:-
1. Taking Scalp, Pony Wounded - the figure depicted is wearing headdress and HCH did not, neither did he take scalps as it went against his vision. 2. Wounded Pony, Spears the Crow - the figure is wearing a breastplate, again not part of his vision. 3. Lassoes a Crow Squaw etc., - the figure depicted is wearing two feathers, not one as was the custom of HCH, also in his vision.
I have not looked through the entire collection, but these are my initial reactions.

Grahamew,
thanks for that, interesting stuff, I seen a few of them before. I don't know how they were labelled, or who did it, but given that there are several drawings that refer to the enemy being Crows, when you can see by the roached hair cuts and black cuffed footwear that they are in fact Pawnees, I'm not totally sure we can trust the titles. shan

Only slightly off topic, or maybe not - does anyone know if any of the purported HCH or HHC drawings encompass a bear fetish, or if a grizzly bear figured prominently in any of his visions or personal history?
Gordie, when that gypsy wind starts to blow, from New Orleans down to Mexico, it reminds me of the girl I knew, and some of those crazy things we used to do......................................

Yes, I know there were some odd comments in the text - the one about testing the ghost shirt, for instance - and it makes me wonder how accurate it is. It's not the only pictographic representation of CH with a warbonnet, however. I was just wondering if anyone KNOWS any more about this particular set of drawings and can they be tied in with THE Crazy Horse. I don't have my copy of the CH surrender ledger with me to check names, but the fact it is supposed that the ledger belonged to a member of Red Dog's band MAY indicate that it's not the same man. Ephriam? Kingsley?
