I remember reading a few years ago of 'gang culture' encroaching onto reservations and how difficult it was to do anything about it, particularly when it's tied to drug abuse. :-[I read the report and watch show of pictures. I live on the reservation and i know that Pine Ridge has a score of problems but what you read and see is only a very small part of Pine Ridge. There are good families who care for their children raised them up to proud of who they are. Articles like this give you only the bad that is happening and makes it seem that it has made it to every home. It has not. On my rez I don't have any friends who drink or do drugs.

I think - I hope - that the point of the articles was to reveal a side of America that's generally not known, but, yes, you're right, more could've been said about the people who are fighting this and they do give the impression that it affects most of the reservation.
