All--
For those of you anxiously counting the days until those all-important departures for Montana and the annual events surrounding the anniversary of Little Big Horn, a word of news:
IT'S GONNA BE HOT!
Looks like highs will be in the mid-to-upper 80s with plenty of sun. No winter jackets this year ... sigh. That said, hopefully all of us will be able to meet up and have a little fun at the ol' battlefield!
Safe journeys, everybody. --t.

Tricia:
And hold up a sign or something, or one of them giant finger dealies what says CUBBIES ARE NO. 1, or some such.
BTW: Shorts may be nice for the social occasions in Hardin or wherever, but are not recommended for exploration of the battlefields, unless accompanied by tall, stout boots - which might lead to a "Pretty Woman" style outfit. I can see it now!!
I'll miss you guys this year, but hope to meet up with someone next. Unfortunately, I dislike going during the "anniversary experience." Enjoy, all. Bring SPF 4053, and insect repellent.
Gordie, Big sky. Come on. Be quick. Bring sunscreen. PS bring suncreen................................................

Gordie--
If I display a Cubs' poster or claw, I'm pretty sure someone is gonna bean me, resulting in a big ol' bench-clearing and multiple multiple game suspensions ... ahem ...
If I was going on the CBHMA field trip, I'd give into practicality and wear light jeans or khakis, but since I've been nursing a foot injury all spring, I'll be pretty much sticking to pavement. On top of that, I was at the doctor on Friday with a suspected case of mumps! Fortunately, that turned out negative, but for a while, I thought I'd have to be Andrew Speaker sneaking my way to Montana ... I mean, 46 years old and I get a childhood illness? Whatever!
Got the hiking boots yesterday, check the sunscreen, buy the film tomorrow. I'm so curious--I'm always interested in seeing how folks look away from the forum. Also, does anybody have a number that connects me to the bookstore? I'm creating a reading list (thanks to Melani) for my hours on LSH, and I'd like to keep it to product avaliable in the visitor's center.

We haven't posted much here to date; I spend most of my time reading the posts. We thought we would mention that Laurie and I intend on visiting the battlefield shortly after the conference in July. This will only be my second visit to the battlefield but I'm sure it must be Laurie's sixth or seventh visit. She has been fascinated by the Custers and the battle for a long time now. Then she goes and gets me just as obsessed with it all!
Thanks for the advice. We will go prepared for the sun.

Actually, the reading list was Hank Pangione's idea. I met him on the Keogh Trail last year, and he'll be there again this year. He's not a computer type, so he's not online at all, but he's fun to talk to!

Goodness ... it's gonna be 95 on Saturday. If we didn't know how the Seventh managed before, we will this year. Maybe some of the re-enactors will let us borrow wool threads ...

Tricia:
We're all [well me, anyway] looking forward to your posting a photo of you and Diane in your shorts playing at siren at the monument. I cannot find any direct link to the battlefield store, only the online store of the Western Parks whatever it is.
Have fun, and don't forget to write.

Diane won't be dancing around the monument this year, but perhaps Melani will play with Trish.

For those of you heading to the LBH later this week, I think you will be amazed to see how much water is in the LBH River. If you drive the Real Bird Loop to where the stands are for their reenactment, you'll find the river within 10 yards or so of the stands. Last week, the I-90-212 exchange was closed because parts of 212 were underwater! It has since receded. EVen Putt's Trading post was closed one day because no one could get to it from the freeway. All the rivers and creeks are swollen and running fast, and it is something to see. Y'all have fun.

I read about the flooding and wondered if it affected your Wild West Tour. Apparently not!
Everyone who is going, know that I am extremely jealous and hope to be there next year.

Saw the high water in some of TD's photos (I believe they were his; I'm a bit confused with trip preparations) and was simply astounded. I had no idea the river ever carried so much! Thanks for the head's up ...
Gordie--I'll be wearing my pink Cubs' hat or my Life Is Good visor (also Paris Hilton-pink) ...

And me without my bathing suit! Just kidding--nothing would get me in that river--too many people didn't come out!
