custerstillstands, Yep, only about 180 Miles from Sand Creek AND about 400 miles from Washita!!!Jim Uh, there are peaceful villages too ? Are you kidding ? Black Kettle's people killed more settlers, raped more women and children that most of the Whites for a decade. Two children from Fort kearny were detained in BK's village in 1864, along with several artifacts stolen in the settlements. In 1868, it's worse : children and women kept in villages (Clara Blinn, Miss Crocker), people burnt to death, women raped and killed (Little Rock, Black Kettle's village chief - second-in-command-, had fun telling Wynkoop how many women and children were raped by his warriors and how many people they'd massacred), innocent chased and killed... Black Kettle was as peaceful as Ussama Bin Laden or Yasser Arafat. Why should anyone cry for such a ba$tard ? Little Rock's testimonies was on August 19 1868. He admitted the crimes, and Black Kettle admitted them too on November 20 1868.

How can you believe the statements of Indians who torture and rape whites that support your views regarding the LBH?
I would think you would not believe one thing they said, since you classify them as torturers, murderers , and rapists.

Sheridan made a good point about the peaceful villages and their captive (he was talking about Clara Blinn, kept in a Cheyenne peaceful village):
"After having her husband & friends murdered, and her own person subjected to the fearful bestiality of perhaps the whole tribe, it is mock humanity to secure what is left of her [Clara Blinn] for the consideration of 5 ponies."
Crushing these peaceful villages, like Custer did with respect to the laws of war, was a service to all humanity.
Terrorist cells are there to be crushed.

"How can you believe the statements of Indians who torture and rape whites that support your views regarding the LBH?"
Because they said they did it, at LBH, and Washita.
They're terrorists, not necessary liars. Most awful murderers love to talk about their crimes. Indians loved to do it. Soldiers found a book with drawings of the raids in Black kettle's village.

I am really not surprised with your “Off-The-Wall” comments and sarcasm. I wouldn’t expect anything less from you. Has it ever occurred to you that every story has two sides? You seem to be missing 50% of what you should know before posting a comment!
If you are an example of the current generation, then I pity the world in another couple decades! Most of the time you sound like you have a mouth full of wet USED toilet paper! I think on your next trip to the Alamo, you really should take time to visit the basement. There is a perfect room down there for you. It’s called the “WHINE” Cellar!!
Have a Great Day! Jim ;D

CSS,
You are right, judge people by their acts. Not color of their skins or ethnic origin.
crzhrs, by always confusing the NA that did made atrocities and those who did not you are making the confusion you blame CSS of.
Jim, watch out for the mental breakdown.

css: "Black Kettle's people killed more settlers, raped more women and children that most of the Whites for a decade." Can you say "Sand Creek, Marias River, Sacramento River, Camp Grant," and on and on? Your makking such a broad statement shows your clouded judgement and bias. If you had said it was the Cheyenne or the Lakota or tribes combined, maybe you'd have a little more credibility; instead, you've blown your credibility. Of course, I take it all back if your statements were just tongue in cheek.

You just forget to see crzhrs who gave an amnesty to every NA and refuse any discussion about this. He has certainly understood that White Americans are less than confident when talking about those dark events and he use this. Wykoop's "ring" at the time used the same weakness. This weakness already let the majority of Americans call Custer "a butcher" without any credible evidences. And for speaking of Europe, this weakness made European refuse to study critically their colonial wars. Black Kettle was not a decent chief and his warriors had blood on their hands. Calling them "murderers" is close to the truth.
