Hello to everybody! I've a life long interest in military history and a degree in the subject (as a profession I'm a biomedical scientist). I'm always been fascinated by the LBH since I was a child. Even if this battle is small by military standards, it has a dramatic aura that is unique: the last stand of a famous unit in the wilderness of the XIX century American west, led by a charismatic leader, and in a way the last stand of the Lakotas and of their way of life. The campaigns of 1876-7 were the last great Indian wars, and thus sign the end of an epoch. And for a military historian or buff this battle provides an endless series of questions and theories. Even if I have read quite a lot of stuff about the LBH, my knowledge cannot compare with that of many members here. I hope I can have some questions answered and maybe provide some suggestions/ideas. Thank you.
