Gentlemen, You've made my point in spades with your worship of the weapon and the thrill you achieve in estimating distances and percentages of kill. As you miss the point of the rhetoric in my reply to your "sport". Pequod (Robb) Robb, I understand your attempts at humor. I do not understand why your posts show gross ignorance of the dynamics of combat. The lack of training causes people to die. In 1876, and today. The fact that poorly trained troops fire too high was identified in the 1400s. I can list hundreds of battles that prove this, but my experience with you on these boards is that you are imperious to facts. You are very arrogant. Why do you not try to treat us as equals. Try engaging in a two way discussion. Or keep posting arrogant, ignorant comments. You prove that your branch has no right to exist. Every day. William

Your ability to call things as you see them is always appreciated. Off topic a little but I have a question for you. Can you tell us about your experiences, if any, when you had to deal with poorly trained troops or at least 'newbies' to a team? I have no doubt US Special Forces of all branches are trained to the hilt but there still must be experience gaps.

Peqoud Equating my questions as to the development of estimating ranges in golf and in combat "with your worship of the weapon and the thrill you achieve in estimating distances and percentages of kill." statement baffles me. I cannot speak for AZ, but as I have been playing golf, I never worshiped the thrill of killing and or studying percentages.
You need not make obtuse comments to demonstrate your knowledge and wit, just do as Will said speak with us not at us. Have a Great Day. Regards Dave

Robb
I value the lives of my fellow officers and anything that I can do to increase their survivability within reason is what I will do. On Monday we will spending 8 hours on a range in Phoenix transitioning to a different handgun. We will be shooting close to 300 rounds per officer during daylight and night or low light conditions.
My friends deserve the best chance of surviving a gun fight.
Regards
Steve

Pequod, Fred may forgive you for your asinine ignorance, I won't, I am one of the unexploded duds you referred to in one of your earlier posts. For someone who purports to be so well read you should have a clue to what Will said. A 5 year old would, not you. You offer nothing with regard to the topic of this board, nothing but trite remarks. For someone so well read you are an ignorant a$$. The man you refer to went to Penn, he and I disagree on many issues. You are truly the clown prince of Proboards. I don't think you have read jack-$hit, as you have offered zip to the discussions. If Diane wishes to ban me, I will wear that as a badge of honor, You are a condescending wimp. I am ashamed you pretend to be an officer of the USAF, jerk. Any place any time!
Lack of Regards, Tom

Now, Now Thomas it does your digestion no good service to be upset. The man is an ignorant swine, but that is his problem, not yours.

Pe/rob You again lack understanding, no fury, but if you think I am signifying... nothing, your level of comprehension is still what it was in response to the Montrose post. By the way you have no point, none worth sharing, but you are fun! You have made no points regarding the topic of this board since you joined.
No Regards, Tom

Steve Trained Firearm Instructors are highly esteemed by all the officers I served with. As a University of Mississippi Reserve Officer, I qualified twice a year both day and night with revolver and shotgun and we had to achieve 80% or better to pass and be allowed to carry a weapon. We had several Federal, State, County and City officers qualify with us and use our Instructors to insure they would be better able to survive any situation that might arise. Glad your department has you training officers.
As a side note regarding the mention of firing over 300 rounds, I learned the value of shooting gloves one long night of qualifying and using speedloaders with my S&W 686 using .38 +p rounds. I burned fingers and hands!
Tom Obviously you are a Virginia gentleman who will need a second for the upcoming duel. I shall be honored to accompany you to the field of honor while we await Pequod's arrival. This would not be the first time for us to have difficulty with membership of a board though this one is operated and supervised in an adult fashion and manner. The moderator has no hidden agenda or pets. Regards Dave

Alas Thomas, like the ship he takes his name from, he is overlaid with thick layers of barbarity. That is the mark of ignorance. Dismiss him from your conscience thoughts. Those he attacks are long standing friends of both of us. We know what and who they are. He on the other hand is nothing more than a gong that clangs for the attention of his betters. Give it to him and he wins.

You are correct he belongs on the board with the "Queen of Queens." That was not an offer to duel, only to discuss, as gentlemen, as he purports to be.

Darn! I was reading up on my potential role as a second and was going to crack my piggy bank to get the travel money. Could you challenge him to a fishing duel? Perhaps frozen mullet at 2 paces? Then I could get a ride on your new yacht and cruise up and down the Chesapeake and you could show me QC's old stomping grounds. Regards Dave

Are you aware that if, for any reason, your primary dueler is unable to execute (no pun intended) the act of dueling then you are to take his place. This Means that if Tom strikes an iceberg with his lovely yacht, trips over a deck mop, strains his wrist doing 12 oz wrist curls or is stricken otherwise, you become dueler #1. Can you count to 10? Are you a good shot with 1820 vintage pistols? Smooth bore, one shot, loaded similarly to a musket, not sure if a ramrod is used? Beware what you ask for, Sirrah! (Latter not to be confused with Syrah, a tasty mid-range bodied red wine. Just watchin' out for a fellow man whose Mom had good taste in names. Best, David

Hey Pequod, if you want to learn about weapons then just click the link at the bottom of my post, there are plenty of weapons there for your benefit, that way you can stop annoying military veterans. Enjoy!
