I have been extremely busy of late, doing more and more research into a couple of projects I have assigned myself. While I have known this for a while, it always seems to slip to the rear, but one of the best sources of information I have ever come across has been the work of an old friend of mine, Marc Abrams.
Marc has assembled probably the finest collection of newspaper and magazine articles associated with the Old West one can find anywhere. I do not have all of Marc's books, but I have been going through those I do have and the information I have found is absolutely invaluable. He assembled a series of-- I believe-- 15 books titled, Newspaper Chronicles of the Indian Wars, plus a couple of other volumes he titled, Last Stand Magazine. In addition to all that voluminous work, Crying for Scalps is the record of St. George Stanley's writings for the Crook campaign.
Man, oh man, you talk about fascinating work!!!
I do not know the availability of any of these works, but if you want some fascinating reading, I would strongly suggest very little is better than Marc's works.
Best wishes, Fred.

I think that Fred is specifically referring to Marc's 15 volume 'Newspaper Chronicle of the Indian Wars', which is sadly out of print. I think that 'Crying for Scalps' is still available, as is 'Sioux War Dispatches'. 'Sioux War Dispatches' is a great read.
