1.) So Custer subdivides 1-2 times to make the PACK TRAIN.
2.) Custer subdivides another time to create BENTEEN (3 Troops).
3.) Custer subdivides another time to create RENO (3 Troops).
Custer keep's 5 troops on entering the Medicine Tail Valley
My Questions are: What are the proofs for division of the five troops further into Keogh and Custer or the Ford D recon unit. What proof and please be specific.

We know that Keoghs battalion and Custers died at different locations, but we dont know if Custer ordered Keogh to be where he died. It is assumed that he did, but the fact is we will never know what Custer said to anyone, since the only people that would know died with him. Be Well Dan

I know Weibert thought he had some answer based on unspent shells but These horses were so shot up I could see one stray horse with a saddle bag with a hole providing same shells let alone Indians and firewater.

Ah, firewater. must indicate happy hour had not commenced! Sorry don't get the drift or joke but take no offense. For what I meant is any alcoholic beverages found, war spoils would immediately be imbibed by the victors. There is an excellent journal of a trading post operator operating at most 250 miles North of LBH around the Revolutionary War were alcohol was the primary trade ingredient. He describes just what happens when the Indians get the booze. He went to paying the Indians in alcohol at least two miles from his post to keep it from being burned down by the very soon to be drunk Indians.
