Tonight's episode was about Custer, and I eagerly awaited whatever the show would bring.
Unfortunately, I thought it brought little if anything at all. The show spanned the time from Custer at West Point until LBH...too much going on to do justice to in a one hour program.
The narrative of the LBH battle was far too simplistic...perhaps interesting to the TV audience, but to anyone with a real passion for a study of the events of that day, the story was suitable for a children's show and that's about all.

I could not agree more. I felt very let down by the lack of new (or really any) real information about the battle. Not to mention the innacuracies about Washita; village being defenseless, Major Elliott being sent after the indians, etc. Plus it portrayed the defeat of Custers' battalion being an ambush. I was excited but it was frustrating. William J.

Thank you Fred. Did I miss your publishing a new book? I apologize if so, I have not checked this board in a while. William, Yes, I had a new book published in late-October. It is called The Strategy of Defeat at the Little Big Horn. It is listed on Amazon and obviously, from the publisher. It has received some pretty decent reviews and I am rather pleased. If you buy, I hope sincerely you enjoy it. And thank you for asking. Best wishes, Fred.

Thank you Fred. Did I miss your publishing a new book? I apologize if so, I have not checked this board in a while. William J William Welcome to the board! Since Fred wont promote his book, I will. I highly recommend that you purchase a copy of Fred's book, but you must be ready to study because this is not a casual history of the Little Bighorn. The time lines will expand your knowledge and insight into this epic event and challenge any preconceived ideas. If I can make a suggestion to you do not get an e version of this book. You need to have the paper copy version to go back and froth from page to notes to timeline and you just can not do that as easily with an electronic copy. I have marked my copy with pen, pencil and yellow hi-lighters plus dog eared corners and you can't do that on a Kindle. Fred has put an enormous amount of research and study into this marvelous tome which enables one to follow the paths and actions of both sides. The maps provided permit you to better follow the action and comprehend who did what and why. Without a doubt this will be your "go to" book on this battle. Enjoy the read! Regards Dave

Welcome William, I'm sure you will enjoy this site as much as the people who contribute. I usually read the site daily and gain from it, much like a parasite that doesn't leave its host drained. (if that makes sense). Best, c.

Thanks so much for the kind words Fred, Dave and Chris. I agree about the hard copy of the book. I am both technologically challenged and old school so I do not do E-books, etc. I enjoyed Walt's book on Lt Harrington. Sadly it is in storage as I am a football coach and took a new job about 9 months ago and did not bring everything with me. I look forward to reading Fred's book. There are still so many aspects about how the defeat of Custer's battalion transpired, I love reading anything new.
