I will dig through my archive to see the name of the author of that book. He did show it to me, it was very short but interesting. I teach at Roberts School in Roberts Montana. Henry moved into our area after he retired from the ranch. I was lucky enough to get him come for several years to talk to my class. He would bring in artifacts he had found. Another thing he did was trace Custer's path to the battlefield. Reading descriptions, he was able to nail down topography. Especially helpful were drinking water descriptions. Some of his surprises on horseback were finding out where things naturally led him. An army moving that fast dropped lots of things....ammo spurs, extra bits, etc. Once he thought he had it nailed, he would metal detect to make sure he could find something.
Honestly for years.. I did not care what people thought, but I want to honor his memory and his mostly forgotten work. If you had an deep interest in the battle, he would have enjoyed sharing information with you.

Thanks for your follow up, GN. Four of the last 5 years I have stayed at the 7th Ranch, Weiberts old property.
Regards, Tom
