I bought this and the price is well-worth it to anyone interested in the Custer Cluster beyond light reading. Bob has actually read the books and articles he describes (hint, hint, DC).
Here is BC's opinion of the book:
"Got my copy of A Reader's Guide to Custeriana by Robert M. Anderson, Lt. Col. AF, retired, on Wednesday.
"I've been looking around at different areas of the book. It seems to have listed about everything printed about the lbh. Many of the listings have a synopsis of the articles and books that is written by Mr. Anderson with some of his observations added in. His observations are well grounded by years of experience in reading the materials, studying the battle, and walking the battlefield.
"Where he has a synopsis, you can call it a Cliff's notes and then decide if you want to read deeper.
"It has a bunch of publications listed under Fred Wagner and in one synopsis, he even has a minor disagreement with Fred regarding a small detail. Imagine that.
"Everything you ever wanted to know about what was published by myself and Clair can also be found by looking in the book.
"He wrote an anaysis of the writings of Edward Nye in the back of the book and I have to agree that Nye had it wrong.
"The book is indexed by author names and somehow I had the mistaken impression that it was indexed by lbh events. That said, once I know who has written on an event, I can look under the author's name to see if there is a synopsis or not. Of course, there are too many things having been published to allow for a book of a few hundred pages to have a complete synopsis of everything.
"It's a handy reference I can have close to my Bonefede's map. And if you have ever had to suffer through all the typos of the Doran book, this one is a pleasure as I have only found one (so far)."
