I have a question regarding Mark Kellogg's notes from the Custer 1876 expedition. If this isn't the right place for it , someone please tell me where to put it. I have the first part of Kellogg's notes but understand General Terry "rescued the remaining notes from Kellogg's body and from these the story was written for the New York Herald." Are these notes available...? And which story does it refer to?

The best source for Kellogg questions:
I Go With Custer: The Life and Death of Reporter Mark Kellogg Barnard, Sandy. Bismarck, ND: Bismarck Tribune Publishing Co., 1996. Price: $15.00
You can order it directly from Sandy:
AST Press 1325 Marbank St, Wake Forest, NC 27587
PHONE (919) 453-0577 FAX 919 453-2980
E-Mail: Sandyb1@aol.com
Or drop him a note. He's a great guy.

This is a little off topic, but since Sandy Barnard's contact information was given, I wanted to highly recommend another one of Sandy's publications.
Sandy also publishes the Greasy Grass magazine, a terriffic full-color publication regarding the Little Bighorn, and all things 7th Cavalry. If you order a copy of Greasy Grass, you won't be disappointed in it. While I'm discussing Greasy Grass, (and, no, I'm not an agent for Sandy, haha!) I just find it remarkable that NONE of the stores across from the Little Bighorn, or Garry Owen, or Hardin, or even at the National Monument, will carry Greasy Grass magazine. I don't even think you can find it in Billings! That's just stupid, if you ask me. The people that stock the stores know it's available, but they won't sell it. One person told me it's because it appears to be pro-military in its theme, but they carry scores of pro-Native American publications. I wouldn't even say it is pro-military. There are a lot of articles regarding military aspects of the Little Bighorn, but they don't generally show favoritism toward the military. And, the Greasy Grass runs articles quite often regarding Native Americans who played significant roles at the Little Bighorn.
So, I just don't get it, why they don't sell Greasy Grass, unless Sandy Barnard isn't making it available.

Hi WY Man I think that the reason that they don't sell it is because it is the Annual publication of the CBHMA and is sent to members. Regards Ron

Ron (as usual) is correct. When CBHMA ran the bookstore at the battlefield visitors center, Greasy Grass was for sale there.

My computer went to computer hospital for a bit, thankfully not computer heaven, so I'm a little late in saying thank you all for the answers and general discussion. Helpful as usual. I will certainly followup with Sandy Barnard.
