I received Crossing the Plains with Custer today. Without reading a word of it, I highly recommend you get it. The photography is beyond belief. Absolutely gorgeous. The 1874 Black Hill Expedition information is a bonus. Another terrific bonus is a roster of everyone on the expedition -- fabulous! dakotaphoto.com/Pages/books.htmlLook at the sample pages but keep in mind that the Internet doesn't do the photography justice.

For those of you in or near central South Dakota* (as to everyone else: what's wrong with you?!?), here's some good news...
Paul Horsted will be in Pierre in Wednesday, December 16, to open an exhibit of his Crossing the Plains photographs at the South Dakota State Library. He'll be doing a program and book signing that evening at the State Library.

I am totally jealous. In addition to be a fantastic photographer, Paul is one of the nicest people on this planet.
