Hello, I am new to this list and came across the site while researching Anne E Northrop Bingham. Who is in one of my family lines. She was an author.
There are a couple of posts on this site that mention an Anne Northrop Bingham. Can some one give me info on why she is mentioned here? All i see is that she was Libbie Manning's cousin? Who was libbie? Any info on Anne would be appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.
My reading of the post referring to Ms. Bingham is that she was a cousin of Libbie Bacon Custer, Armstrong's wife, not of Libbie Manning. I have no special info on her [it's not my line of research]; but if she WAS Libbie Custer's cousin, you might find out more by pursuing that connection. Libbie Custer was the only child of Judge Daniel Bacon of Monroe, Michigan.
As a matter of interest, GA Custer's appointment to West Point came through Hiram Bingham, a member of the US House of Representatives [or Senate] from Ohio, where Custer was born. I have no idea if that is the same Binghams, but I wouldn't be surprised.

Custer was appointed to West Point by John A. Bingham.
Bingham wrote the 14th Amendment, was involved in the trail of the Lincoln conspirators and the Johnson impeachment trial. He was, in 1876 and for quite a time, American minister to Japan. He wrote a auto-biography, which might be worth consulting. I have never heard of any family connection between John Bingham and the Bacons.

Thanks All, I do not know if it is the same Anne. The Anne E Northrop-(that I am researching) married Charles H Bingham. The both were from NY and possibly married there about 1864. This Anne Northrop was born June 1840. By 1870 they were in Kansas. She wrote about life on the prairie
I am going to the library tomorrow to get her obit. Many Bingham lines had NY-Michigan ties, but I do not know of tie with the Bacon Line. Thanks, Lee

We may have a connection ----- Libbie's father Daniel Stanton Bacon was from Onondaga County, New York.
The Charles Bingham and Anne E Northrop that I am researching also have ties with Onondaga. This could be the same Anne! Lee
