Time for a mind clearing road trip, so I headed west from Fort Pierre this morning, and didn't stop until I got to Fort Phil Kearny.
I'm typing this as I sit by the Fetterman monument, having just completed the stroll down battle ridge. What an amazing place!
I took a picture of the damage done by the eagle stealing vandals. If it turns out, I'll post it when I get home.
Tomorrow, it's on to LBH. If I can get a signal, I'll post from LSH.

Greetings from LSH! It's a beautiful morning in SE Montana...crisp & cool...Fall is definitely in the air. Typing on this teeny tiny keyboard with cold fat fingers is a real challenge, but it gets me thinking...you know, if only Custer had taken some of these here black berries along with him...

Yeah, he could have posted the declining numbers of his command.
"We're okay so far - still got 200 men left. Wait!! Make that 180. No 170. Send help. More later, I just crapped myself." "I'm back. We've lost another forty or fifty, and tom has been forced back to my hill positon. Can't see Keogh or Calhoun for the dust and smoke, but neither is responding to the text messages, so I fear the worst. crap. a bullet just took off the first joing of mt roigh inex fingr, si I mogh habe trobl tpinh." "abonew ges ths, ples tell Livvi...."

PS Fetterman Ridge is decidedly an experience. If it had markers like the Custer field, think of how awesome [literally] it would be!!

Custer buffs and dogs. Both seem to head for the nearest tree. Interesting.

Poor lonesome tree. . . .
That's a shame about the eagle. I hope it brings the thief extremely bad luck.
