Trish and Perry Baker at Reno-Benteen, circa 2004.
Trish first came to us under the name of Leyton McLean almost four years ago. She was one of the first people to post on these boards and, for a long time, I believed she was a gentleman from Virginia as she identified herself. I later admitted to her that I had a hard time when I realized she was a woman; I had been smitten by that Virginia gentleman.
What you may not know: Trish was an art historian by education and a gifted writer by avocation. At the time of her death, she was completing a novel about a Russian diplomat's daughter who had a romance with George Armstrong Custer.
"I'll miss Trish's comments and observations including her raging against injustices." ~ Billy Markland
"Sasha or Cousin Emily as I called her, was dead straight and up front with everyone, 'friend and foe' alike, and would brook no nonsense from anyone, especially when it came to standing up for her NDN heritage, and defending the People." ~ Gordie
"I considered her my friend and there's a hole in my heart." ~ clw
"I will miss her pithy comments and passionate posts." ~ Ruth
"I will miss Leyton McLean. Most terribly, I shall miss her. She always made me smile." ~ Fred
"When you were born
You cried
And the World rejoiced
When you passed
The World cried
And you rejoiced"
~ alfuso
"Life landed a couple of pretty hard body blows on Tricia in the last few years, but she struck me as always quickly hopping up and jumping back into the fight. Always holding her ground and reaching forward. I called her ‘firecracker’ for that and came to love her, in a way. How could I not?" ~ Brokensword
