Just saw this yesterday FWIW. While eating at the Brookville hotel that used to be the Central Hotel at Brookeville, KS that was a stop for the old UP/KS Pacific RR going to Denver (which Custer spent years defending), saw that on June 2, 1899 the Great American Circus had stopped for the night. They were displaying the old register. Just noted that W. F. Cody and May Cody had separate rooms. I don't remember if May was a wife or daughter.
