Has anyone studied Libbie's ancestry? She mentioned in her diary "Samuel Clift landed at Plymouth Rock, December 21, 1620--that makes us Mayflower descendants on both Clift and Bacon sides."
In checking a list of Mayflower passengers, I do not find a Samuel Clift. However, a Samuel Clift founded Bristol, Pennsylvania in 1681. Is there any information on who the Mayflower ancestor on the Bacon side might have been?I'm trying to track down whether Libbie did, indeed, have ancestors on the Mayflower or whether that was just family lore.

Elisabeth may appreciate this one. I just googled "Elisabeth Bacon Custer genealogy" and got the dreaded, "Did you mean: Elizabeth Bacon Custer genealogy" Deb, I don't have time to look through the websites right now, but you might want to run a similar Google search to see if you can find a Mayflower connection. "Our" Elisabeth is a great researcher, and I'm sure she's already digging into her sources.

Deb, According to a posting on Genealogy.com ( genforum.genealogy.com/bacon/, Jump to Forum 1149), Libbie's Bacon line came over on the Increase in 1635. Still checking . . . . Diane

Libbie's ancestry (Bacon) can be traced back to Alfred the Great . . . but have not found any info for the Clift side other than Leonard Bacon's marriage to Elizabeth Clift in 1798 which is the earliest for mention of the Clifts.
