Wasn’t Custer wounded in his right shoulder or upper right chest? If so, his right arm and hand would most likely be incapacitated. So he would have had to use his left hand to shoot himself in the left temple.

There is a fifty percentage point chance that Custer was shot in the head first and therefore even odds that he shot himself or was shot in the head first, and then shot in the arm/shoulder.
There may actually have been two chest wounds very close together from obscure record which I have seen - William's Diary.
