W.W. Cooke and 14 US Civil War veterans are buried in Hamilton. William Winer Cooke, who served under Lieutenant-Colonel George Armstrong Custer, and was famous for a few things: he always wore dundrearies (long side whiskers); and he died at the slaughter of Custer's gang in the 1876 Battle of the Little Bighorn. Good Canadian Boy! I have never been to see his plot....any idea how he got back to Canada or his relationship to GAC?
