Be prepared for a lengthy thread. There are, I believe, something over 1,000 renditions of Custer's Last Stand/Fight/Charge/Laugh/Waltz etc.
Gordie, whose eyes hurt from looking at all these paintings.....................

Dear Gordie,
I will loan you a pair of rose-colored glasses for your poor old eyes!
I wish I could see YOUR rendering of the battle! BTW, I have some titanium white you can borrow!
Bab, always willing to please.

Gordie-
I read over 35 years ago that (including drawings- simple sketches not included) there were nearly 2,000 known reditions of the... 'Last Stand'- obviously, the tally has grown since then. BTW - can you tell me if there are any art works of Custer's 1st Stand... 2nd, etc.?

So Michael,
What's your preference? Which of just some of the portrayals of the battle do you prefer? What is your style, and what medium would you use to render your masterpiece. (I say masterpiece because it would be YOUR personal expression of what the battle makes you feel. I'm all about artwork being an expression of feelings.)
So now I'm exposed. (Us Grannies are allowed) Bab

BrokenSword and bab:
Actually, strange you should mention it, but:
1. There are several paintings of Custer's First Stand, which is more formally known as Trevillian Station. 2. About 40 years ago, I did a large painting loosely based on Fetterman's Fight. It was done in great blobs of greens, whites, blues and reds, heavy on texture, and was done for a woman friend's new apartment [which was all beiges and neutrals]. It took about 45 minutes to paint, 5 days to dry enough to be hung, and cost about 35 bucks including the frame. At her housewarming partry, one of the guests offered her 500 dollars for it. I never painted another thing. 3. I am, howsomeever, contemplating a comeback with a new opus "Custer's Last Pop Stand, Hotdogs and Chiliburgers a Specialty"
Gordie, coming soon to a museum near you

It musta looked like something Polloch(spelling?) would have done. You know . . . just start throwing paint at the canvas and hope for the best!
