I wonder if this is true . . . . One thing about Ben Irving was that he was kissed by the Queen of England. How that happened was that it turns out that Ben was the Littlest Indian in Buffalo Bill's Wild West Show. One performance was attended by Her Majesty, and at one point a couple of her guards went out and lifted the Littlest Indian from his pony and brought him to be kissed by the Queen. That is definitely something to tell the grandkids about. Source: ted-sez.blogspot.com/2008/06/good-stories.html

My great ancestor Red Shirt was in England and impressed the Royal Family with his words. "Tell the great chief's wife," Red Shirt relayed through an interpreter, "that it gladdens my heart to hear words of welcome." "I have come many thousands of miles to see you. Now that I have seen you, my heart is glad." Red Shirt
These words that Red Shirt spoke were widely circulated and were praised. I never knew he was in Buffalo Bill Cody's Wild West Show until a few years ago.

Do you know what happened to Annie Red Shirt, Chief Red Shirt's daughter?
My wife's great grandfather married a "chief's daughter" from Bill Cody's Wild West Show. We're not sure if this was Annie Red Shirt or Jennie Blue Horse (daughter of Chief Blue Horse).
Is picture was taken in Italy in 1889 and shows Chief Red Shirt and someone (his daughter?) standing behind him.
Would be grateful for any information.

Great picture, souixsearcher. Redahirt82 does not pop in that often. You might do well to post on our sister board, as it is more NA centric. In any event welcome.

Hi Tom, thanks for the information. I've now discovered that my wife's GG-Grandmother wasn't related to any of the chiefs but she may have been a performer in one of the shows but don't even know where to begin to get the hold of the "cast rolls" and she if she shows up. Anyway, appreciate your help...Colum

SS, you might call the Buffalo Bill Museum in Golden, CO or Buffalo Bill Center in Cody, WY.
